Assistant City Manager/Community Services Director Chris Emeterio has worked for the City of Brea since 1982, when he was hired as a Community Services Leader. Throughout his career, Chris worked in a number of Community Services divisions in various positions. In 1999, he was promoted to Community Services Manager with responsibilities for recreation and management of the Brea Community Center. Chris began duties as Director on January 1, 2011. In 2015, Chris began duties as the Assistant City Manager, while maintaining his role as the Community Services Director. As the Assistant City Manager, Chris’ responsibilities include city budget, employee negotiations and other management duties.
Working In the Community
As Community Services Director, Chris oversees Human Services, Cultural Arts, and Recreation Services Divisions which includes the Brea Gallery, Curtis Theatre, the Brea Community Center, which encompasses the Brea Resource Center and Brea Fitness Center, the Brea Plunge, the Brea Senior Center, and Pioneer Hall. In addition, Community Services staff manages programming at a number of Brea parks. Chris and his staff work with the Cultural Arts Commission and the Parks, Recreation, and Human Services Commission to support the goals of the Brea City Council. As the Assistant City Manager, Chris’ responsibilities include city budget, employee negotiations and other management duties.
Over the years Chris has been a key member of working groups that were instrumental in the construction, opening, and management of the Brea Community Center, Brea Skate Park, Founders Park, Brea Sports Park, and the rehabilitation of the Brea Municipal Plunge to name a few. In addition, Chris negotiated with various land owners and developers to acquire four new parks and the historic oil museum and trail, resulting in 58 additional park acres in the city.
Chris earned a Bachelor in History from California State University, Fullerton and has completed a number of continuing education programs throughout his career.
