Brea Summer Event & Program Update

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to follow guidelines established by the CDC and health officials in the State and County, the City of Brea has had to unfortunately cancel or postpone the following events and programs for this summer. But, we continue looking toward the future. Some programs are still being evaluated to determine if they can be conducted in a different manner to adhere to current safety guidelines Community Services staff is evaluating and preparing for when programs, classes and special events can resume. Orange County Health Officer Order

The Orange County Health Officer issued an order and strong recommendations regarding health and safety protocols that apply to all Orange County residents. Part of this order requires all residents, with some exceptions, to wear face coverings while in a public place, visiting retail or other places of business, at work, or when an individual is unable to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from another person who is not in their household. Additional Industries Eligible to Re-Open with Modifications

On Saturday, May 23, the State approved Orange County’s plan to accelerate local businesses into Stage Two of the Governor’s re-opening plan, meaning that in-person dining and retail shopping with modifications is now permitted. The County was able to successfully demonstrate its ability to meet the State’s required metrics as outlined in the California Resiliency Roadmap.

Earlier this week, Governor Newsom announced that churches, houses of worship, barbershops, and hair salons may also re-open in counties that had received prior State approval regarding their re-opening plans. As a result, the County of Orange is able to have the following industries re-open with adaptations:

• Barbershops and hair salons
• Churches and houses of worship
• In-person dining reservations
• Retail shopping with social distancing and curbside pickup
• Manufacturing
• Offices (when telework not possible)
• Outdoor Museums
• Limited Services

Before opening, businesses/organizations in each industry must first complete five steps. After those steps have been met, each entity should follow statewide operating guidance. Orange County Health Care Agency Statistics

According to Orange County Health Care Agency’s statistics, a cumulative total of 41 Brea residents have tested positive for COVID-19.There has unfortunately been 142 deaths and 5,744 cumulative COVID-19 cases countywide.
