Brea Police Department Recruiting for VIPS The Brea Police Department seeks volunteers to give back to the community. Volunteers in Police Services, also known as VIPS, is a program run by the police department comprised of residents and business owners from Brea. Some responsibilities include assisting with traffic and crowd control at civic functions, proactive patrolling of our community schools, businesses, and residential areas in specially marked and equipped cars, and filing in the police records division. To be eligible, volunteers must be over the age of 18, have a valid California Driver’s License, and be free of any conviction of a crime of moral turpitude or any felony. Reorganization of the Brea City Council At the December 6, 2022 City Council Meeting, the Brea City Council reorganized as follows:
- Marty Simonoff, Mayor
- Christine Marick, Mayor Pro Tem
- Cecilia Hupp, Council Member
- Blair Stewart, Council Member
- Steve Vargas, Council Member
The next Brea City Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 17, at 7:00 p.m. The Council Chambers is open and available to the public. The meeting can also be viewed live on the City's government access channel and online at, cityofbrea.net/BreaTV.

Parking Permit Renewals For safety and aesthetics, overnight street parking is prohibited in the City of Brea between 2:00 and 6:00 a.m. without an annual permit. Residents requiring additional on-site parking spaces beyond those on driveways and in garages can qualify for a permit. Permits need to be prominently displayed and renewed annually.

Improvements on Brea Canyon Road Construction work to fill cracks and slurry seal the City’s portion of Brea Canyon Rd. will take place between Tuesday, January 17- Wednesday, January 25. Work will be done one lane at a time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please use alternate routes.
