Fun-Filled Summer in Brea

Mark your calendars for a summer filled with fun and familiar community events and activities you look forward to each year! Family Films are back this month, on June 10, at a new location this summer. Bring chairs and blankets to the Plaza Level of the Brea Civic & Cultural Center for 8:00 p.m. showings on select Friday nights. Celebrate fathers, and father figures, at the Father Daughter Fiesta taking place on Friday, June 17 at the Brea Community Center. Honor our nation’s independence at the 42nd annual Country Fair happening on Monday, July 4 at City Hall Park. Also returning is the Patriotic Home Beautification Challenge, where residents decorate the outside of their homes with patriotic flair for a chance to win a prize. Concerts in the Park begin Wednesday evenings, July 6-August 10, at City Hall Park. And, the ever-popular Brea Fest is making its return on Friday, August 12. Throughout the summer, lessons and recreational swimming are back at The Plunge, along with Tiny Tots, Summer Day Camp, many half-day camps, and other exciting activities for kids.

Remember, Fireworks Are Prohibited in Brea

With the 4th of July holiday next month, we want to remind you of Brea’s ban on fireworks. The sale, use, or discharge of all fireworks are prohibited in the City, even the “safe and sane” variety sold in other cities. Fireworks are dangerous and can be harmful to you, your property, and your pets. They are also a serious fire hazard as sparks from fireworks can travel to nearby homes or brush and ignite a fire. If you are able to identify the exact location of someone using fireworks, please report it to Brea Police Department's non-emergency line at 714-990-7911. Violators face up to a $1,000 fine. Please help keep our community safe by adhering to Brea’s ban on fireworks.

Water & Sewer Rate Study Update

Join us for a community information meeting to learn about the water and sewer rate study recently completed by independent consulting engineers. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 29, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., in Community Rooms A&B at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center. To RSVP, or ask questions, please send an email to ratestudy@cityofbrea.net.

Annual Slurry Seal Project Completed

The 2022 Slurry Seal Project was completed last month. Work involved crack sealing and slurry sealing of approximately 360,000 square feet of pavement on streets east of the Rosco Street neighborhood, Pleasant Hills neighborhood, and north of Northwood Drive, in the Terrace neighborhood. In an effort to keep the community informed, City staff and the contractor handed out Construction Notifications to residents within the project area. A total of 960,000 square feet of pavement has been slurry sealed this fiscal year.

Request Parkway Trees

Residents can request for a parkway tree to be planted in their neighborhood. The width of your parkway, along with what utilities are in the area, will determine whether a tree can be planted or what type of tree. For more information, please call the City’s Public Works Department at 714-990-7691.
