Brea Fire Enters into New Ambulance Contact

The Brea Fire Department and Emergency Ambulance Services entered into a first-time private ambulance contract that went live on March 1. Under this contract, ambulances in the City will be co-located and responding to calls out of Brea Fire Stations 2 and 3. The ambulances will look the same for now, however, within a couple of weeks, they will be transformed and painted red like our fire apparatus. We look forward to this working relationship and the enhanced service it will provide to our community.

Survey to Provide Feedback on By-District Elections

Like many cities in our region, Brea is faced with developing a voting district map for use during future City Council elections. In May of 2019, Brea received a letter from a law firm alleging that the City’s current at-large election system violates the California Voting Rights Act. In order to avoid facing a costly lawsuit, Brea agreed to transition to by-district elections after the 2020 Census results. Brea’s process began in September of 2021. Since then, there has been extensive community engagement to solicit feedback and collect draft maps drawn by members of the public. Of the 22 draft maps that were received, the City Council has narrowed down their focus to two maps. You can view the draft maps online by visiting cityofbrea.net/districting.

It’s not too late to be part of the process! The Brea City Council wants the community to share their thoughts on the two focus maps they are currently considering. A brief survey is available online, until March 20. For further information, or to provide written comments, please contact the City Clerk's Office at (714) 990-7756, send an email to districting@cityofbrea.net, or visit cityofbrea.net/districting.
