New Look for Brea’s Official Website
The City of Brea’s official website, cityofbrea.net, launched with a newly redesigned look. The website continues to offer extensive City information and is available to access from any device, anytime. The same information can be found, and the overall functionality remained the same, but now the website has a modern, streamlined look. A prominent search bar is featured on the top corner of the homepage to help citizens find information quickly. The City’s social media accounts are also easily found on the homepage. Popular features still remain, such as Tell Us, to submit online requests, and Notify Me, to sign-up to receive City information via email or text. Websites for the City’s Fitness Center, the Curtis Theatre, and Art Gallery also received new, modern looks. In addition, the Brea Police Department launched its own dedicated website. It has never been easier to stay informed and stay connected with Brea by visiting cityofbrea.net!

Engaging Brea Residents in the Districting Process
Brea continues to engage the public in the process of transitioning from at-large to by-district elections for members of the City Council. In order to gather community input on how the final voting district map should be drawn, we are urging the community to view the draft maps and provide feedback.
There are two upcoming opportunities to participate in this process. A District Mapping Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, February 12, from 10– 11:30 a.m., at the Brea Community Center. This interactive workshop will feature large-scale draft maps so that the community can easily view and provide comments. One more Public Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The community can still provide comments at that time as City Council narrows down which map to choose for Brea. Both the workshop and the Public Hearing will have Zoom as an option to participate.
The community is encouraged to attend the meeting and workshop. Those interested in drawing a draft map for City Council consideration have until Monday, February 14 at 5:00 p.m. to submit it. Currently, all draft maps submitted before the previous deadline are available to view online and feedback can be submitted to districting@cityofbrea.net. Visit cityofbrea.net/districting to view the draft maps and learn more about the districting process.

Reflectorized Traffic Signal Backplates Pilot Program
The installation of Reflectorized Traffic Signal Backplates at certain locations throughout the City is a pilot program initiated late last year. The intent is to help improve the visibility of signal indications. These retroreflective bordered backplates have yellow reflective strips placed around the perimeter of traffic signals to increase traffic signal visibility during morning hours, at night, or during a loss of power. So far, the reflectorized backplates have been installed on 16 traffic signal heads at the intersection of Berry Street and Lambert Road. This is a one-year program that will include the evaluation of crash rates.
