Modifications to California’s Stay-at-Home Order

Yesterday Governor Newsom announced the closure of indoor operations for certain sectors, in order to mitigate the recent increases in the spread of COVID-19. These closures went into effect immediately in the 19 counties that are on the County Monitoring List, which includes Orange County. Sectors required to cease indoor operations include: Restaurants; Wineries and Tasting Rooms; Movie Theaters; Family Entertainment Centers; Zoos and Museums; and Cardrooms. The order is expected to remain in place for at least 3 weeks.

Closure of Bars in Impacted Counties

In addition to the closure of indoor operations of specific sectors, Governor Newsom announced that bars must close all operations in the 19 impacted counties that are currently indicated on the State’s County Monitoring List. This closure applies to all bars in Orange County.

July 1 State Closures

Celebrate the 4th of July Responsibly

Celebrating this year’s 4th of July holiday is going to be different, just like other celebrations have been since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the recent uptick in cases, it’s as important as ever to celebrate responsibly and avoid large gatherings. Limit gatherings to those you live with and skip the block parties that are typical this time of year. If you go out in public, remember to maintain physical distance and wear face coverings. And, stay local. Brea’s parks and trails remain open and a good place to go for a walk with those living in your household. Stay safe and Happy 4th of July!

Fireworks are Prohibited in Brea

Fireworks of all types are prohibited in Brea for the safety of residents and the entire community. Each July 4th, thousands of people are injured while using consumer fireworks and there are millions of dollars in property damage and wildfires. In Brea, our expansive hillsides are extremely vulnerable to the spread of fires. Fireworks are banned in Brea and subject to a $1,000 fine. If you know the exact location of someone setting off fireworks, call 714-990-7911 to report and keep your city safe!

Holiday Beach Closures throughout Orange County

Following a State recommendation aimed to slow the spread of COVID-19, beaches will be closed throughout the upcoming holiday weekend. All beaches will be closed on July 4, with County beaches closing on July 5, as well. Additional information regarding other beaches within Orange County may be available from coastal cities and California State Parks.

City of Brea Relaxes Temporary Outdoor Dining Regulations

The City of Brea is supporting our local restaurants in temporarily relaxing outdoor dining regulations through the temporary use permit process. Brea understands the need to adapt the physical boundaries within which restaurants operate in order to accommodate safe, social distancing practices in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of the recent State order closing indoor dining for at least the next three weeks, as well as other required operational modifications related to COVID-19, restaurants may now temporarily convert portions of the outdoors into customer dining areas. For restaurants interested in applying for a temporary use permit, visit www.BeBrea.com.
