The Brea Community showed up big time for Brea's first ever city-wide serve day, Love Brea on April 30. An estimated 470 people, young and young at heart, came together to work on projects throughout the city. More than 25 projects were finished in one, three-hour period. Brea schools were cleaned, landscaped and freshened, park restrooms painted, blood donated and books collected.
Love Brea is part of the Love Our Cities Campaign that included a number of local cities, including Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra and Placentia, The effort started with a simple question: What would happen if businesses, cities, residents, non-profits and the faith community got together and served their communities? The answer? Thousands of people served in Orange County, new friendships made and love for our communities shared.
In addition to our volunteers, Love Brea relied on the generosity of our sponsors who donated over $12,000. The City of Brea offers its sincere appreciation to our founding sponsors who stepped up to support Love Brea: Brea Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Brea Towing, Brea Plaza, California Roadside Services, Chevron, Coffee Bean and Tea, Del Webb, Dwight Manley, Emergency Ambulance, Gateway, Habitat for Humanity, Liberty Painting, Southlands Church, Starbucks, Target and Whole Foods Market, as well as a number of Brea churches who took up collections for the event.
