Caltrans has informed the City of Brea about imminent construction that will be executed as a safety project. Work will be located at Highway 57 and Lambert Road, and it is NOT a part of longer term plans for an interchange upgrade project, which is still in the design phase.
Caltrans considers new construction activity at this location to be updates to the ramps for compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act.) This work is set to commence on Monday, March 14, under a 90-working day contract with All American Asphalt. There will be night work for lane closures and signal installations. The City must now plan for a major traffic impact that could affect the Imperial Highway off ramp and detouring onto State College.
Brea's Public Works and Police Departments will work as possible to help offset expected negative impacts from Caltrans' work.
