The environmental process [Project Approval & Environmental Document (PAED)] for the SR-57/Lambert Road Interchange Project is nearing completion. The Draft Environmental Document (DED) was signed by Caltrans last February.
One of the most important steps of the PAED phase of the Caltrans Project Development Process is the public circulation of the DED, which formally discloses to the public all the key elements of the project including project purpose and need, viable alternatives and environmental impacts. It is during the public circulation period that the public is given the opportunity to provide their input on the project.
The public circulation period for this project is March 2, 2015 through April 2, 2015. During the public circulation period, it is common for the project sponsor to host a Public Meeting to provide the community with information about the proposed project. In this “open house” meeting the public may attend anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on March 25, 2015, to view information, maps and descriptions of the project area.
The SR-57/Lambert Road Interchange project team (Consultant, Caltrans and City staff) will be available to take questions, comments and suggestions regarding the proposed improvements. The final decision on the project approval will be made after closure of the public circulation period, and after full consideration of the public input. No decision on the project will be made at the Public Meeting. It is anticipated the decision will be made in April 2015.
After the selection of the project alternative i.e. ramp configuration, the next step is to initiate the preparation of construction documents for the project. Staff anticipates presenting the award of contract for the preparation of construction documents to the City Council sometime in May 2015.
