[ARCHIVED] New Street Improvements Offer Smoother Ride, Environmental Benefits

Project 7318_closeup

Kraemer Blvd. and Lambert Road have been improved thanks in part to a $158,350  grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery.  The six-month project (7318) completed in December 2017 by our Public Works Department as part of its Capital Improvement Program.  The roadway rehabilitation improvements, included repaving, reconstruction of the curb and gutter and access ramp improvements for ADA compliance and traffic lane striping and markings on Lambert Road and Kraemer Boulevard.

The material used to repave the streets is called rubberized asphalt because it contains ground up used tires.  This product will cause the road surface to wear better, last longer, provide a smoother ride, improve fuel efficiency and reduce road noise.  Using this  material diverted an estimated 38,332 California waste tires from local landfills.

Strong infrastructure, safe streets and recycling are top priorities for the City of Brea and with good partners, such as CalRecycle, the City of Brea will continue fulfill these goals.Cal Recycle Logo
