The Proposed Public Assembly Ordinance Discussion has been postponed to the February 6 City Council Meeting. In a letter to Mayor Parker and the Brea City Council, the ACLU, NextGen California and Indivisible 39, requested that this matter be postponed. Additionally, following the public input at the December 19, 2017 meeting, city staff met with the ACLU. Staff is working to modify the ordinance in order to address the concerns raised. We are working to find common ground with interested parties that protects their First Amendment rights and supports the city’s goal to provide for a high level of public safety and protection for all individuals.
