[ARCHIVED] Brea Recognizes National Police Week 2017;

Along with agencies across the nation, the Brea Police Department is recognizing National Police Week, May 14-May 20.  On May 15, Chief of Police Jack Conklin presided over a ceremony marking the National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which included lowering the American Flag at the Civic & Cultural Center to half-staff as a tribute to fallen officers. 

The ceremony recognized all law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.  In particular, the Brea Police Department honored Officers Danny Valenzuela and Terry Finch who died serving the Brea Community over 20 years ago. A wreath has been place a their Memorial at the base of the American Flag.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week.  Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week.
