The City of Brea is embarking on a modernization of a 30+ year old park in its historic south Brea neighborhood. With key pedestrian connections to the downtown via the Tracks at Brea trail system, and adjacency to the Brea Senior Center, Brea Creek Golf Course and local schools, this 14-acre site serves as a primary location for multi-generational recreational uses for the community. The City is also adding the first all-accessible playground in North Orange County which will provide an opportunity for children and adults of all ages and all abilities to have a safe space to play and enjoy the outdoors.
At their November 7, 2023, meeting City Council authorized staff to go to bid with Phase One of the project, which includes everything to the east of the flood control channel. Amenities includes in this phase are:
Re-imagined and all-accessible playground growing from 10,000 to 34,000 sq. ft.;
Four new pickleball courts;
Upgraded basketball and volleyball courts;
New restroom facilities;
New outdoor events space;
Relocated skatepark soundwall;
Resurfaced parking lot and new EV Charging stations; and
Upgraded Tracks at Brea Trailhead.
