The City Treasurer is elected every four years to serve in an investment advisory capacity. The Treasurer participates in review and recommendations of policy and strategy with an emphasis on activities involving cash flow, permitted investments and risk/return factors. Other members of the Investment Advisory Committee include a Council member, the Administrative Services Director and Revenue Manager, plus two appointed citizen advisors.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an elected position. The City Treasurer is a member of the City’s Investment Advisory Committee and participates in investment strategy discussions and reviews monthly and quarterly investment reports.
All applicants must be residents and registered voters within the City of Brea. The treasurer is required to file a Statement of Economic Interest pursuant to the Political Reform Act of 1974.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
A working knowledge of managing institutional portfolios, investments, and implementing sound fiscal strategies for the management of large sums of money, plus a bachelor’s degree in business or finance is preferred.
