Level Information
Level 1 - Junior Criteria
Those students who have contributed and reported at least 120 eligible hours of volunteer service by May 1 of their junior year will receive an official letter from the mayor of Brea recognizing their efforts and service to the community. This level of achievement was identified as a preliminary goal to assist students in achieving the Mayor’s Youth Community Service Award and to provide juniors with documentation of their service to submit with college or job applications. It is not necessary to fulfill the junior level criteria to earn the Level 2 (senior) award. Students may contribute and report more than 120 hours in their junior year; all additional hours will count toward the Level 2 requirements.
Please Note: Senior students who have met Level 2 (senior) criteria during their junior year must re-submit a copy of their original tracking form plus any additional hours to be considered for the senior award.
Level 2 - Senior Criteria
Those students who have contributed and reported at least 160 hours (including the 120 Level 1 hours) of volunteer service by May 1 of their senior year will be presented with a distinctive award at their senior awards ceremony. Award medals may be worn on graduation day. (These presentations apply to Brea Olinda High School and Brea Canyon Alternative School. Brea students attending other public / private high schools will be recognized in accordance with their school’s traditions and policies.) Award recipients will also be recognized by the City of Brea. Seniors need not have fulfilled Level 1 (junior) criteria to earn the Level 2 award.
