The Brea Police Department values all feedback -- positive and negative -- regarding the service it provides and the conduct of its members. We realize this matter is also very important to you and the citizens we serve. We appreciate being able to recognize employees who provide exceptional care or service. At the same time, we take all complaints about misconduct very seriously. 

The Professional Standards Unit investigates each complaint as quickly as possible. A member of the Professional Standards Unit, or their designee, may be in contact with you as soon as the investigation into your complaint has begun. The investigation of a citizen complaint is a complex matter. To conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation takes a significant amount of time. Some of the steps we may take to investigate your complaint will be to review police reports, review video and/or audio recordings and interview the involved parties and witnesses.
