Citizen Academy

The Police Department is excited about a new offering for the residents and business community in Brea and Yorba Linda, the Citizen Academy. The goal of this Academy is to develop an atmosphere of understanding between the Police Department and it's citizens. This creates a powerful tool for the community, partnerships. These partnerships are instrumental in allowing us to benefit from the high quality of life our communities enjoy.

Although the Academy will not prepare anyone to become a police officer, our officers will share their expertise in narcotics, homicide, robbery, assaults, auto theft, traffic and other areas of interest. Demonstrations will be given by the Special Response Team and the K-9 unit, and all students will participate in a ride-along with a patrol officer.

The Academy consists of regularly scheduled classes, which are held weekly, on Wednesdays, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, for twelve weeks. A graduation ceremony will be held on the thirteenth week with successful students receiving a formal certificate.

The Academy is open to all adults who live or work in Brea or Yorba Linda, and the location alternates between the Brea Civic and Cultural Center, and the Yorba Linda Community Center.

Interested in joining the Academy ?  Download the application form from our web site or pick one up at the front counter of the Police Department, or at the administrative office at 20994 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda.
