Lagos de Moreno, Mexico
Lagos de Moreno, Mexico
Lagos de Moreno was founded in 1563 and has a population of about 155,000 residents. It is located in central Mexico in the northern part of Jalisco. The town is a historical home to many writers, artists and poets. The town features many lovely buildings with intricate architecture. A late summer festival draws people into the heart of the city for outdoor celebration.

In October of 1969 a relationship began with Brea's original Sister City. Since that time, many cross-border visits have been missions that were both social and service-oriented. Delegations from Brea have been treated to many memorable, personal trips reflecting the best of Mexican hospitality. In turn, a series of summer visits to Brea have often brought Lagos de Moreno residents here to share Brea's traditional Country Fair celebration, as well as a number of other Southern California highlights.

A shared-use park at Laurel school on the southeast corner of Birch and Flower is named for Lagos de Moreno. In addition, several treasured pieces in Brea's Art in Public Places program, including the high school Wildcat mascot, were created by Lagos artist Carlos Terres. He and his family lived for a time in Brea as an "artist in residence" while teaching and sculpting.
