Engineering Services by Appointment
Counter service for engineering review is provided during the following time periods at the Brea Civic and Cultural Center on the third floor of the Brea Civic & Cultural Center:
  • Monday through Thursday
    8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday (alternating weeks)
    8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

To maximize customer convenience, it is highly recommended that an appointment time be scheduled. Please keep in mind, that the City of Brea is closed on alternate Fridays as shown on this calendar. You may call 714-990-7667 for appointments.

To help expedite your trip to City Hall, you may download and fill out an initial encroachment application or when relevant, the subsequent encroachment application. There is also an initial plan check application that can be prepared in advance. When needed, the subsequent plan check application may be used. Applications provide a checklist of materials to bring to your plan check meeting. They also indicate areas to be filled out by the applicant.

Period Opens for Qualification of Contractors
The Public Works Department of the City of Brea invites interested contractors to complete a Contractor's Qualification Application to be placed on the 2016 Qualified Contractors List. This list is designed so that contractors can receive "Notice Inviting Bids" for informal projects under $175,00 in their respective work category, per California Public Contract Code Section 22034. Only qualified contractors will be notified.

Brea Superblock I Parking Structure Begins Construction

This project will construct a four-level parking structure with 478 parking stalls at the corner of South Orange Avenue and Birch Street in the downtown. The contractor for the project is McCarthy. Completion is anticipated in Fall of 2017.

The project is currently in construction with construction limit fencing placed along the property. The sidewalk along Birch Street and S. Orange Ave. adjacent to the project is closed to the public as part of the contractor’s work area.  The public is advised to use the Brea Blvd./Birch St. crosswalk at the signal to access the north sidewalk of Birch. Additionally, the public is advised to use the east sidewalk along Orange Ave. The Contractor has posted sidewalk closure signs and detour signs along the sidewalk routes.

Free parking is available at the other City downtown parking structures and parking lots during the project construction.
Additionally, valet parking remains available at the Brea Blvd. entrance of TAPS and Buffalo Wild Wings”

57/Lambert Road Interchange Improvements Project
The City of Brea in cooperation with California Department of Transportation District 12 (Caltrans) is planning to improve the State Route 57 and Lambert Road interchange. The project objectives are to maximize performance and relieve congestion on the interchange ramps. Following construction, there should be reduced traffic delays and increased safety

Currently the project is in the plans and specification phase. In order to complete this, several parcel takes and temporary construction easements will be needed. A request for proposal (RFP) seeks bids from qualified professional firms with experience in right-of-way acquisitions. 

A mandatory pre-proposal meeting will be held on December 5, 2016 at 11:00 am. at the Civic Center located at 1 Civic Center Circle, Level 3, Brea, CA in the Executive Conf. Room. Written questions are due on December 12, 2016. Proposals from qualified bidders are due on Thursday, January 5, 2017.
