Trauma Intervention Program
In Brea and cities throughout Orange County, police officers and other emergency responders rely on assistance from TIP (Trauma Intervention Program) volunteers to provide vital, immediate, and emotional support to trauma victims and their families. TIP volunteers need to be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are called by police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and hospital personnel to assist:
  • Family members and friends following a natural or unexpected death
  • Victims of violent crime including rape, assault, robbery, or burglary
  • Victims of fire
  • Disoriented or lonely elderly persons
  • People involved in motor vehicle accidents
  • People who are distraught and seeking immediate support
  • Survivors of suicide

“TIP volunteers are definite asset to the Brea Police Department,” said Brea Detective Debbie Stark. “Their caring support of the victim and the families makes a big difference in a crisis situation.”

Join Us
The Brea Police Department and TIP are teaming up to recruit volunteers to help make a difference in Brea and throughout Orange County. TIP is looking for caring people willing to be part of a team of citizen volunteers trained to provide emotional and practical support to the victims of traumatic events. No experience is necessary, TIP will train interested citizens to be crisis responders.

For more information or to register for training, please visit the TIP website, send a message, or call TIP Assistant Crisis Team Manager Pat Cahill, Orange County, at 714-420-0875.
