The Organization
Command Staff
The Brea Police Department is divided into the Uniform and Investigative Divisions, directed by two captains. Read on to meet Captain Burks and Captain Hayden.

Department History
Going back nearly to the early 20th century, the Brea Police Department has a rich tradition of community service. In fact, the history of the law enforcement in Brea goes back to a time even before the city was incorporated in 1917.

Investigative Services Division
Police officers assigned as detectives work in one of several investigation units focusing on specialized case work.

K-9 Unit
The Canine (K-9) unit is an valuable tool used to locate and apprehend suspects, prevent officer and suspect confrontations, and to identify and retrieve narcotics-related assets.

Patrol Division
The patrol officers that work in the Patrol Division of the police department and are often called first responders.

S.W.A.T. Unit
The Special Weapons And Tactics team is a designated unit of law enforcement officers that is specifically trained and equipped to work as a coordinated team responding to critical incidents.

Threat Management Unit
The Brea Police Department Threat Management Unit (TMU) was created to head off potentially serious problems before they start.

Traffic Unit
The goal of the Traffic Unit is to ensure traffic safety. These motor (motorcycle) officers receive specialized training in order to focus their efforts on preventing problems and enforcing traffic safety laws.
