APP Policy Manual & Ordinance
Arts in Public Places Manual
Brea’s Art in Public Places (APP) Policy Manual describes sculpture requirements, the sculpture application approval process, milestones related to the construction schedule, and sculpture ownership responsibilities.

The current APP Manual was approved by City Council by Resolution No. 2013-001 on January 15, 2013. Hardcopies may be purchased for $10.

History of the Program

Although Brea’s Art in Public Places Program was established in 1975, Brea City Council approved the first Art in Public Places Ordinance requiring private developers who met certain criteria to install publicly visible outdoor sculpture in 1984. The current Ordinance #1050 was approved by City Council in 2001.

The Art in Public Places requirement is part of City of Brea Zoning Code section 20.408.040 subsection C.4.
