Fire Explorer Information
Young Adults:

Are you interested in working for a fire department someday? If so, you can "try on" a career as a fire professional by becoming a part of the Brea Fire Department Explorer Post. It is not necessary to be a Brea resident, but you must live in the surrounding community to be considered for membership.
Exploring is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The primary purpose is to provide a means by which young men and women may determine, through actual experience and training, if they would like to pursue a career in fire services as adults. The training also provides much needed experience to the skills required of firefighters and prepares candidates for the intensive training required during the fire academy in the college years. Fire Explorers are volunteers, but completely insured while in training and on duty. New members are expected to furnish their own uniforms and some equipment upon acceptance into the program; however, special considerations can be arranged for those who cannot afford the initial cost.
To qualify for the position of Fire Explorer, you must maintain at least a "C" average in school, be between 15-21 years of age, be of good moral character, and have no serious arrest record. You must also have a strong desire to contribute to the community and possess a mature attitude that is reflected in your actions. Meetings are held on Thursday nights @ 6:00pm. The Brea Fire Explorers currently are not recruiting. For safety reasons, visitors may only attend recruitment meetings. Please contact Fire Administration at (714) 990-7655 for further information.
